Andrés holds an MEng in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and an MBA from IE Business School. His earlier professional experience included electrical engineering, project management and international project delivery. That combination still shapes how he looks at innovation projects: the technology has to make sense, but so do the business case, implementation, resources, financing and impact.

Creator of Ruthless Evaluator · Managing Director at Koncentriq

Andrés Vallés Zariova helps innovation teams turn ambitious projects into credible funding strategies and executable plans. His work spans choosing the European programmes with the strongest fit, challenging innovation and business logic, sharpening positioning and evidence, writing and editing competitive proposals, and supporting funded projects through implementation and commercialisation. The teams Andrés has worked with and led have helped clients secure more than €320 million in funding. He connects technology, business, financing, impact and evaluator logic so strong projects are easier to understand and defend under serious evaluation.

Experience behind the articles
His work in EU funding began in 2014 with assessing client ideas, preparing Horizon 2020 applications, securing funding, and subsequently managing funded projects through implementation and commercialisation. European public funding has remained a central part of his professional work since then.
Over the years, Andrés has worked with projects across sectors including health and biotechnology, energy, advanced materials, digital technologies, agri-food, space and industrial technologies.
He has also served as an external expert panelist in the EIC Tech to Market Venture Building Programme, taking part in Tech Demo Days and providing market and venture-building feedback on innovations presented by EIC Pathfinder and Transition beneficiaries.
Much of this work comes back to a simple question: does the proposal on the page make the project as clear and credible to an evaluator as it is to the team behind it?
A strong project should not lose ground because the proposal makes its substance harder to see or verify.
The goal is to narrow the gap between the project the team knows and the evidence an evaluator can actually find, understand and assess on the page.
Small inconsistencies, contradictions, partially covered subcriteria, buried evidence, unsupported claims or weak connections between objectives, methodology, implementation and impact can make strong work look less clear, less credible or less complete than it really is.
Ruthless Evaluator makes that final critical review more systematic: stress-test what the proposal actually demonstrates, surface avoidable weaknesses and help teams see what still needs attention before submission.
